If as every year, the association accompanies many schoolchildren on memorial sites, the pandemic did not allow many schools, high schools,… to come to pay tribute to American soldiers. However, the easing allowed the city of Saint-Lô to allow a class of Cm1 of the school of the Yser to come and flower the graves of the thirty soldiers sponsored by the city of Saint-Lô .
The work was done in two stages.
First on June 17th. At the invitation of Monsieur Lepleux, their professor, the president of the association came to present the association, its genesis, its action,…and answer the many questions.
On 21 June, the president met the students at the American cemetery in Colleville, accompanied by their teacher and a young German student. In compliance with the security rules, they were able to discover the necropolis and its symbols, stop on some burials and listen to what we know about them by laying down their bouquets.
This morning earned a beautiful lesson in civic education and history illustrating the work done upstream of the teacher.
