At the beginning of June, Les Fleurs de la Mémoire took part in two ceremonies dedicated to honoring the American soldiers who helped liberate Normandy during the Second World War.
On June 2, 2026, the association welcomed a delegation of officers from the 1st U.S. Army to the Chapelle de la Madeleine in Saint-Lô. During the ceremony, a ‘Remember’ rose bush was placed at the foot of the memorial in tribute to the American servicemen and to the enduring friendship between France and the United States.
Our volunteers were also present in Mortain, at the monument dedicated to the 30th Infantry Division. This American division played a key role during the Battle of Mortain in August 1944. It was also the division in which Frank Towers, founder of the association, served during the war.
Through these moments of remembrance, the association continues the mission initiated by Frank Towers: preserving the memory of the Allied soldiers and passing their stories on to future generations.
