INDEPENDENCE DAY
13 North American colonies seceded from Great Britain and proclaimed themselves the United States of America on July 4, 1776.
As every year, with the agreement of the Directors of the Colleville sur Mer and Saint
James – Montjoie st Martin cemetaries, the association will be distributing a rose in the morning to any visitor to the site who wish to pay tribute to a soldier buried in the necropolis. All members who wish to join them that morning, can honor their soldier(s) with flowers from their garden.
We recommend that you wear your badge (pin). Further details will be posted on the the site if necessary. At the request of schools or other educational establishments, the association can accompany them on their visit. It’s a moment of exchange, often filled with emotion and sharing.
In a normal year, we were able to talk to around a thousand teenagers.
On this occasion, the students may be asked to put flowers on the graves of members who are unable to attend.
